The real Betis hopes to be able to conclude an agreement for the Manchester United Antony winger despite their sports director Manu Fajardo describing it as a “very complex operation”.
Antony spent the second half of last season in Betis and was an unequivocal success, scoring nine goals and providing five assists to help them finish sixth in Laliga and reach the conference league final, which they lost against Chelsea.
Betis wants to bring Antony to Estadio Benito Villamarin, with the Brazil striker considered as a priority sale by United while they are looking to avoid loss under the rules of the Premier League PSR.
However, Betis Director of Betis, Ramon Alarcon, said last month that they would try to sign Antony on loan.
This approach can complicate things, but Fajardo remains hope that Betis can secure Antony’s services once again, the player who did not hide his desire to return to them.
“We must all be aware that this is a very complex operation,” Fajardo told Estadio Deportivo. “Given the level of the player and his recent career at Real Betis, it is not an easy transaction.
“But, as long as Antony did not commit to a third party, we, with the greatest humility, will play our cards to be able to opt for Antony.
“I insist that it is a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without compromising the club. In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the club.
“We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today, the market is open, as I have already said, it’s very dynamic, and we are part of this game.
“It doesn’t surprise me [Antony wants to return to Betis]. And I would like to seize this opportunity once again to highlight the work that the real Betis does as a whole, in all the departments.
“When a player arrives here and has such an immediate impact, it is no coincidence. It is the result of the work, the sacrifice and the gravity of all the people involved on a daily basis. Not only so that Antony can play and give the best, but so that all the players who join Betis can reach his peak.”
