The quarterfinals of the Adobe Women’s Fa Cup take place this weekend and Manchester City welcomed Aston Villa with Joy Stadium.
The Gareth Taylor team has had a drop in form this season while they are fourth in the WSL ranking and 12 points behind the Chelsea leaders. In the middle of the week, they were held in a 1-1 draw against West Ham after an opening goal by Khadija Shaw.
However, they are still in the running for the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League and hope to put their league form as a weekend. Villa is struggling at the bad end of the WSL table and is only four points of relegation at this stage.

The city is without long -term absent Lauren Le Chanvre and Alex Greenwood, who are recovering knee injuries. Taylor confirmed during his pre-match press conference that they should welcome Vivianne MIEDEMA and SHAW in the departure training.
However, the manager added that his match arrives too early for the Japanese international Auba Fujino. Laura Blindkilde Brown is back in training, but if she is able to start, remains to be seen.
The January signature Rebecca Knaak is also due to an injury, having confirmed on social networks earlier this month, it is ready for a sort of the sore.
Man City predicted the alignment against Aston Villa (4-1-4-1): Yamashita; Kasparij, Layzell, Aleixandri, Ouahabi; Hasegawa; Fowler, Park, Miedema, Kerolin; Shaw
It was a turbulent for a few weeks for Villa while the winger Adriana Leon left the club to join San Diego Wave in the NWSL. Not only that, after last week’s defeat against Everton in WSL, Natalia Arroyo has injury problems.
At the start of the second half at Villa Park, goalkeeper Sabrina d’Angelo took a nasty blow and had to be replaced by Katelin Talbert, who made her debut for the club. Villa has not yet confirmed the extent of D’Angelo’s injury, or if it will be available to face City this weekend.
Aston Villa predicted the alignment against Man City (4-2-3-1): Talbert; Mayling, Patten, Turner, Maritz; Taylor, baijings; Grant, Nobbs, Hanson; Daly
It is difficult to predict since the city is not in the best form at the moment. The result in the middle of the week against West Ham proves that they have vulnerabilities that Villa will undoubtedly be desperate to exploit.
That said, Taylor’s team has so much experience at the highest level and supports itself to overcome the line in one way or another. If this match had been against the more difficult opposition, it could have been a delicate tie for City, but the place of Villa in the WSL – second at the bottom – indicates that they also find it difficult to form.
