The Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia played the interest of the country signature Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah before signing his new contract.
There were important links between Salah and the Saudi Pro League for the best of two years and it was widely planned that the Egyptian striker will take his talents in the Middle East this summer if Liverpool did not respond to his requests for a new contract.
It has been reported as recently as this month that Saudi officials always trusted that they were in the race to sign Salah this summer, but speculation was put in an immediate and concrete end when the Talisman of Liverpool signed a new two-year contract in Anfield.
Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, the super rich gulf of the Gulf Nation, admitted that Salah was the player’s caliber that the League’s dream of attracting, but played suggestions that they really concluded an agreement for the 32-year-old.
“I mean, it’s a superstar,” Al-Faisal told the media. “He is an emblematic Arab Muslim. It corresponds to the identity of playing in the Saudi league.
“It was his decision to renew with Liverpool, but binding Saudi to him and everything … I think that from the first day, they connect Saudi Arabia. There were no discussions. But it’s good to have that.
“Now you can see that any player who wants to renew his contract, [the media] Say that they come as a Saudi and that most, 90% of it, is not true. But I think we have a strategy we are working on and everyone says we just sign all players. “”
While the Saudi Pro League drew international attention by signing aging superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante, there was an obvious change towards younger talents like Marcos Leonardo, Jhon Duran, Moussa Diaby, Mohamed Simakan and Angelo.
“If you see the last number of players we have signed or the club has signed is mainly young players who wish to develop the league,” added Al-Faisal. “It makes the league very competitive.
“I don’t know if you are following the League this year, but the competition is incredible in the top four clubs.”
