Captain of Europe Anna Nordqvist appointed Caroline Hedwall and Mel Reid as vice-captains of the Solheim Cup next year in the Netherlands.
Hedwall represented Europe as a five -time player, winning or keeping the Cup on all occasions except one.
“I was so delighted when Anna invited me to be one of her vice capitaine in 2026, because the Solheim Cup certainly provided many of the most important moments in my career,” said Hedwall.
“Anna and I have shared so many experiences, both on tour and in European teams together, that I have the impression that we are very aligned in our reflection on how to help ensure that the European team is able to perform at its best.
“I think that, with Mel, we really understand each other and are all very fiery competitors, so I’m sure we are going to work very well for the good of our team.”
Meanwhile, Reid is a winner of seven times on the Let and LPGA, represented Europe at the Solheim Cup four times (2011, 2015, 2017 and 2021) and as vice-captain twice in 2019 and 2024.
“If the Solheim Cup occurs, I want to be there for Europe in a way I can contribute,” said Reid.
“Some of my most beautiful basic memories were for a week of the Solheim Cup and in this European team room. I am honored that Anna asked me to be one of her vice-Captains.”
For the United States team, Angela Stanford was appointed successor to Stacy Lewis and captain of the American team for his defense of the title of the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands.
Stanford presented six times for Team USA and was one of three winning teams, with his last appearance, seeing her contribute to a return victory on European soil in 2015.
The 47-year-old announced Kirsty McPherson as his first vice-captain.
The former major champion has been deputy captain for the last three editions of the Biennial competition, including in Lewis for each of the two previous competitions. The staff of his rear courses is still to be announced.
Europe will try to find the United States Solheim Cup at the Bernardus Golf from September 11 to 13, 2026.
The United States team has resisted a response from the last day of Team Europe to win a 15.5-12.5 victory and win the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2017.
The Lewis team has taken an advantage of 10-6 in the Sunday of Sunday at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, leaving them requiring only 4.5 points for the victory, with Megan Khang, Allisen Corpuz and Rose Zhang, all displaying big victories to bring them closer to their objective.
Charley Hull conducted forward at Thrash World No. 1 Nelly Korda and Georgia Hall also won a great victory to raise hopes of a historic European return, with seven games left on the course or in favor of the Pettersen team at this stage.
Celine Boutier and Leona Maguire won their matches to bring Europe closer to the 14 points necessary to win for the fourth consecutive time, only for Lilia Vu guarantees the half-point necessary for the victory when she won her last two holes to equalize against the recruit Albane Valenzuela.
