Eddie Howe says that her recent disease was “difficult”, but he is delighted to be back to lead Newcastle United against Ipswich on Saturday.
Howe, 47, was hospitalized with pneumonia and missed the last three games of the Magpies.
Assistant Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones won the victories on Manchester United and Crystal Palace and a defeat against Aston Villa the last time.
But Howe is back and said, “I’m fine. I am not 100% in my body but I would like to think that I am very close to 100% in my mind, which is the most important thing.
Eddie Howe on the run-in:
“I see that it is very tight and perhaps at the end of the season for the first five places. I think we put ourselves in a very strong position. We are entering a five game league now where we have difficult matches, but we will have to be our best,… pic.twitter.com/xakwpi9toq

“It has been difficult for the past few weeks. I try to take a positive from each experience, I think it’s really important, but it was a real challenge because your health you take for acquired – I certainly did it.
“When you don’t have the luxury of feeling normal, it can be very difficult, so I certainly went through a range of emotions. Fortunately, I feel like I am on the path of recovery, which is the most important thing.
“I am delighted to be here. The staff behaved and acted absolutely brilliantly so a real tribute to them and now I am back, I hope to be able to add something to the group when we enter the last five games. ”
Howe says he made the decision once he fell ill to completely moving away from his role and not staying in touch with Tindall and his staff.
He said, “I had no contact.
“The care I received from the NHS was absolutely first class. I cannot thank them enough, they were absolutely brilliant, the care and the love I felt from them.
“And, of course, the good wishes and the SMS that I received from everyone. I tried to go to everyone, it takes a while!
“I really appreciate it and I am very grateful.”
