The Women’s Women’s Women UTD, Phallon Tullis-Joyce, has signed a new three-year agreement with the club.
The American international – who obtained his first cap earlier this month – became stopper n ° 1 from Man UTD after the departure of Mary Earps in summer.
Tullis -Joyce initially joined the club in September 2023 and excelled this season, keeping the cleanest sheets of the WSL so far – 13 of 19 games – and helping the club to embark on a third successive final of the FA Cup.
United only conceded nine goals – four less than the next lowest team, Chelsea. Tullis-Joyce also ranks in the top five for stops, captured crosses and authorizations have struck.
She told the media of the Man Utd club: “I am really grateful to have this opportunity to continue the exciting journey on which we are. We all in the team, we are constantly increasing the dreams of what we can achieve together.
“We want to continue to make the story and I am so proud to continue wearing the Manchester United badge.”
Matt Johnson, acting chief of Manchester United, added: “Phallon was exceptional for us this season both on the field as a goalkeeper and out of the field as an ambassador and leader.
“It shows the ambition of the club that we can keep one of the best goalkeepers in the world here in Manchester United.”
The next UTD man’s match will be against Chelsea on Wednesday, April 30, as they seek to place a place in the Champions League next season.
Tullis-Joyce: My learning season with Man UTD and the United States
Talk to Sky Sports Before the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, Tullis-Joyce thought about a learning and development season with Man Utd and his national team.
“This whole season is summarized by a large quantity of learning. I love learning in general, so I really appreciate it,” she said.
“As much learning can sometimes be painful, it was a great growth experience for me to be exposed to this national team environment and what it takes to play at the highest level. It was a revelation of the eyes and a massive excitement to continue to grow for Manchester United and for my country.
“Coming to Manchester United, I was fully aware of the situation. I was definitely up to the challenge.
“I was delighted to work with Mary, to see her standards, to understand the environment she created for herself and to understand what it takes to be a goalkeeper of Manchester United. It helped me now enter the role.
“I kept working in the background. I tried to work on all areas of my game that I thought I had to improve before I could take this “projector”.
“I hoped to have a blow here and there and I was lucky to be called in the matches of the Conti Cup. I am super grateful for that because it was a great introduction to that it would be in the future.
“As much as I like science, I do not pay much attention to statistics in terms of my game. I like to keep them out of my head because I know where my brain will go with these things.
“But I appreciate how much it can represent how much we grew up as a team and I am happy that we can share that these achievements so far.”
