Meta deletes the option of using Apple Intelligence writing tools for four of its applications, confirmed CNET Thursday. These options were initially activated on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads, but seem to have been deleted for certain users.
It seems that the deletion of meta of Apple’s AP functionalities may have started As early as December 2024, confusion to iPhone owners who may have relied on the functionality within its applications. Meta and Apple did not respond to requests for comments.
CNET’s main writer, Abrar Al-Heeti, dug more deeply. When she tried to highlight the text on Instagram to be rewritten, she saw only one option “writing with AI”, which, instead of offering the option of Apple Intelligence’s writing tools, leads to a Meta IA window.
On the wires and WhatsApp, Al-Heeti did not see the option of modifying his text with AI at all. Nor did she see Apple Intelligence on the Facebook application, just a tool “Help me to write” which then leads to Meta AI.
CNET also confirmed that Apple Intelligence’s writing tools are always available on signal, Bluesky and X (formerly Twitter)
The change was spotted for the first time by the Brazilian technological blog sorcerer. Appleinsider I did a little more in the documentation of the Apple developer to confirm that iOS and iPados applications must manually activate the functionality as well as the results of the Apple support forums.
In a time when artificial intelligence is everywhere and each massive technology company constitutes its own solutions to compete with each other, Meta’s decision to delete the use of Apple’s intelligence tools may not be incredibly surprising. Meta probably wants users to use its own AI instead of Apple.
What are these writing tools?
The sequence of Apple Intelligence’s writing tools is only one of the many features fueled by the AI of the iPhone manufacturer. Apple Intelligence is currently available only for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 models, the iPad Mini 2024 and Mac computers Select.
To access the writing tool function, you must highlight the text to which you want to make adjustments and a menu option “Writing tools” will appear in the floating menu on your text. In other words, if the functionality is available for the application in which you are trying to use it.
The writing tools will allow you to easily reread your text for any grammatical error and to have all of the rewritten text, including presets for convivial, concise or professional.
