Naim Qassem’s comments came when the Israeli army said it had made more than 50 strikes in Lebanon this month.
Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem called the Government of Lebanon to work harder to end the Israeli daily attacks in the country, one day after an Israeli air strike targeted the southern suburbs of the capital Beirut for the third time since a cease-fire was agreed at the end of November.
Qassem said in a television speech on Monday that Hezbollah had implemented the cease-fire agreement that had ended the 14-month war, but Israel continued to launch implacable air strikes.
Qassem’s comments occurred while the Israeli army said it had made more than 50 strikes in Lebanon this month in response, he said, threats to Israel and Hezbollah that would have raped Broker’s ceasefire.
Rights defense groups have denounced Israeli attacks on Lebanon, saying that they violated the truce agreement.
On Sunday, Israeli war aircraft struck the southern suburbs of Beirut after issuing a warning approximately an hour earlier, marking the third Israeli strike on the region from the ceasefire in November. The Israeli army said it had struck an installation of precision guided missiles.
‘Express pressure on America’
After the strike, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun accused Israel of having undermined stability in Lebanon and climbing tensions. He said Israeli attacks pose “real dangers for security” in the region.
“Yesterday, an assault targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut. This attack has no justification … It is a political attack aimed at modifying the rules by force,” said Qassem about the Sunday attack.
“Resistance complied with 100% [ceasefire] Deal and I say to the state officials that it is your duty to guarantee protection, “said Qassem, adding that Lebanese officials should contact the sponsors of the ceasefire so that they can put his attacks on his attacks.
“Put pressure on America and make Lebanon understand if the attack does not stop,” said Qassem, pointing to Lebanese officials. He added that the United States has interests in Lebanon and that “stability achieves these interests”.
Qassem said priority should be for a complete Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, the end of Israeli strikes in the country, and the liberation of the Lebanese people held in Israel since the end of the war on November 27.
Hezbollah began to launch rockets, drones and missiles in Israel the day after the attack on his Hamas ally, the attack on October 7, 2023 and Israel responded with a mass bombardment of Gaza. About 1,200 people in Israel were killed and 251 others were removed during the attack in southern Israel.
The war ignited last September when Israel made waves of air strikes across Lebanon and across most of the high leaders of the group, including Hassan Nasrallah. The fighting killed more than 4,000 people in Lebanon, most civilians.
The Lebanese government said earlier this month that 190 people had been killed and 485 injured in Lebanon by Israeli strikes since the ceasefire has entered into force.
