Skydance Interactive has announced today that its next Action Adventure Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will no longer target an outing in 2025, but was rather moved to a window from the beginning of 2026. The company revealed the delay in an article on social networks, claiming that the game requires “more polisher” in order to provide the best possible user experience. This makes Marvel 1943 the second triple-a-time game this month pushed to 2026 after an initial launch window scheduled for 2025.
Skydance announced for the first time Marvel 1943 at the Conference of Game Developers in 2024. He described the game as an action-adventure game focused on the story that takes place in the titular year, and he follows the adventures of Captain America and Black Panther from the Eas of the Second World War, Azzuri. Skydance creates the game by cooperating with Plaion, and the graphics shown at the GDC seem incredibly realistic.
So far, the studio has not revealed the story too much, except that the two will be joined by two other heroes – Hurling Commando Gabe Jones and Wakandan Spy Nanali – and probably oppose the nasty Hydra organization. The fact that the game is written by the veteran of the Amy Hennig game industry, known for the Uncharted series, among others.
This is not the first major title to be delayed from a launch date scheduled in 2025. Earlier this month, Rockstar Games revealed that it had set a launch date of May 2026 for Grand Theft Auto VI; The game was initially planned for an autumn window 2025. One of the side effects of such a large game announcing an outing window is that other publishers seemed reluctant to announce theirs, lest they inadvertently land the same day or the same week. Marvel’s delay 1943 is probably not linked, but an “Early” 2026 launch window could mean that Skydance intends to release it before the rockstar juggernaut.
