Tesla is suing the EU over tariffs it imposed on electric vehicle imports from China.
The European Court of Justice published the case on its website Monday morning. The American company follows Germany’s BMW and several Chinese automakers in filing complaints.
The EU imposed anti-subsidy tariffs of 7.8 percent on Tesla and up to 35.3 percent on other companies in October. This is in addition to the standard 10 percent import duty.
It is the latest confrontation between the EU and Tesla’s billionaire owner, Elon Musk, advisor to US President Donald Trump. Musk is an open critic of European technology regulations and supported the far right during the German election campaign.
The European Commission said it would defend the allegations.
