Chelsea’s transfer chiefs are getting busier as this January window progresses, and they are believed to have submitted a bid in January as they attempt to sign a highly-rated striker.

Chelsea make contact with Premier League striker who wants to join
West Londoners are seriously considering a January deal.
New contacts have been made with the agents of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, according to reliable journalist Simon Phillips, and Chelsea could use Bayern’s interest in signing Nkunku as an opportunity to negotiate the signing of the exciting teenage striker Mathys Tel.
It is believed that if Chelsea cannot land their favorite striker targets like Delap before the summer, then Tel is seen as someone who can fill the void between now and then in place of Nkunku – given the versatility of the French on three offensive fronts (Simon Phillips).
Chelsea’s next matches in the Premier League | Date |
---|---|
Wolverhampton Wanderers (home) | January 20 |
Man City (away) | January 25 |
West Ham (away) | February 3 |
Brighton (away) | February 14 |
Aston Villa (house) | February 22 |
The 19-year-old is also said to be open to the prospect of a move to Stamford Bridge, but would like assurances on playing time given great strength in depth and competition for places in the big Chelsea team (Graeme Bailey) .
Although Tel appears to feature high on their transfer agenda ahead of the February 3 deadline, he is by no means their only mooted target as reports from Spain continue to link the west Londoners to a decision for Deportivo La Coruna starlet Yeremay Hernandez.
It was reported earlier this week that Chelsea were ‘ready to take’ Hernandez from Deportivo, following his outstanding first half of 24/25, where he has racked up eight goals and three assists in Liga 2 so far.
The Spain Under-21 international’s contract includes a £17million release clause, and Enzo Maresca’s side are now believed to have made their first offer.
Chelsea make £8.5m bid to sign Yeremay Hernandez
According to the Spanish newspaper Marca, Chelsea offered Deportivo £8.5m to sign Hernandezand they intend to complete a deal for him in January.
Their plan is to acquire the 22-year-old and send him back on loan to sister club Strasbourg in Ligue 1. However, they face stiff competition from AC Milan, who are preparing their own identical offer for Hernandez.
That being said, both clubs are likely to fail in their initial approaches as things stand, as Deportivo appear to be waiting for Hernandez’s full release clause. The winger has been branded a ‘flamboyant’ player by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kuligwho is an expert on world football’s youngest gems to watch.
Kulig also praised Hernandez’s “pace, acceleration, dribbling, ball control, bravery, agility, versatility”, highlighting why Chelsea are keen to acquire the talent.
