Coach Nicky Henderson told Podcast Constitution Hill Unbridled Constitution is a much more solid horse while intensifying his preparation to win back his Crown of Hurdle champion at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
Despite the tripping during the last Unibet Hurler on Saturday in Cheltenham, the best hardler of two miles from Great Britain claimed an easy triumph of the Cheltenham test day and now turns his attention to the Hurdle champion in Prestbury Park in March.
Addressing Matt Chapman and Paddy Brennan on Unbridled, the man of the Seven Barrows said: “He suddenly realized that he was quite important, he really believes that now. Kempton was incredible and the crowd makes him move forward. It is a simple lacid relaxed horse.
“He’s a much happier horse than ever and he likes the new house that we have built it. I just think he enormously appreciates life. He’s fine, that’s the key thing.”
When he was asked if his superstar could never come back to the height of his 2022-23 campaign when he won the fifth fighter, Christmas Hurdle, Hurdle champion and Aintree Hurdle, Henderson is not convinced.
He said, “It would be difficult to be better than what he was. In the supreme obstacle and champion, you could not imagine that a horse could decimate those he did without leaving the bridle, But he can do it.
“He’s in charge and has fun – it’s the most astonishing thing, but I think he moves very well. He has this boastful about him and the crowd was just brilliant on Saturday – before the race and after.
The Hill Constitution exploits saw many spectators compare it to the Great Sprinter Sacre, which struck the gold of grade a nine time for Henderson during his years of peak from 2012 to 2016.
By comparing the two, Henderson observed: “It is a long and long path in stature and in the presence of what was a sacred sprinter, but Sprinter knew that it was the most beautiful horse in England, as well as the best horse. Constitution Hill is not the biggest horse horse in England, but he has this kind of idea on this subject that people do everything like him, it’s like “Oh, look at me!”
A rare day when Constitution Hill did not look at the best of his best was sparkling during a public gallop alongside Sir Gino last fall, which made comparisons with an equally bad work in Kempton as of the Cheltenham Festival in 2024.
With hindsight, Henderson said: “I could abandon public gallops and I try to be good when he does not run to show that he is alive. I am very happy that we did it in public ‘Last year because it was such a disaster I am not sure that anyone believed me anyway.
“To be fair, Newbury’s gallop was not so bad because I was trying to show everyone surveillance, [Sir] Gino is a very intelligent horse. This is what Constitution Hill took in Newbury, there was nothing wrong with him – the other horse was a little more in front than him but he is very very good. “”
After the success of the test day, Henderson should give his champion Hurdle Hope a short break before the preparation of the Hurdle champion really begins – against the wishes of the Jockey Nico de Boinville.
“Nico came out of him last week and said:” This horse is too fresh, keep working on it, don’t give him a free time! “He has this week off, I can assure you, whether you are Nico or Paddy [Brennan].
All the roads lead to the play spirit for Sir Gino, with Jango Baie prepared for Sandown Test
Despite the start of his season on obstacles in the fifth fight, Sir Gino has experienced a stellar campaign against fences for seven wheelbarrows so far.
When asked if the next Spirit Chase game could be a next potential test, Henderson replied: “I think it’s the plan, I would like to go to Newbury and it is in good shape.”
Jango Baie, who shone the accusations of Henderson, is Jango Baie, who shone during the seasonal appearance at the December meeting in Cheltenham, beat Springwell Bay and Caldwell Potter.
For the future, Henderson commented: “[The Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase] was his target all along and I hope we will be there [at Sandown] SATURDAY.”
East India Quai to test the Lulamba in triumph
James Owen India’s quay has become the main challenger of the Henderson Lulamba for the JCB Triumph Hurdle with a catchy success in a recently ASCOT test, which attracted the attention of the champion’s champion six times.
“I was impressed by him [East India Dock]. We have to do our thing, they will do theirs. He establishes a good rhythm and if he will do this in March, he will give them a good lead and I hope that we are somewhere on his tail to take a look and see what is going on.
When asked if he had others in the courtyard he was eager to run, the 74 -year -old replied: “The other who comes out is a lucky place for the stayers. This form is very good! [Gowel Road] giving him 6 pounds and that came out and won on Saturday. I think this form is quite solid. We take that there will be three kilometers in confidence, so he did not run on Saturday, but I think he enters the equation. “”
What is the last on the Palladium?
All eyes were on Huntingdon on January 23, when the purchase of 1.4 million euros Palladium piloted the flag for Henderson for the first time, carrying the colors of Lady Bamford. Despite a good amount of non-cellar on social networks after the victory, his coach was satisfied with what he saw.
He said: “We were delighted with him. This is one of those stupid situations because of the price. If you remember years ago each time Jonbon was heading, they had to mention what it cost .
“Palladium needs to run again. He is a big foal and they take much more work – he is quite suffocating. I even spoke to previous trainers who said he was not good at home, he came to the racetrack.
Before hanging up the phone, Matt Chapman tightened in a last question on the possibility of a day sending flat courses constitution hill.
Jovially, Henderson replied: “We talked about it a few years ago and I said to John Gosden:” Be careful, we could opt for the Gold Cup! “He thought I was talking about Cheltenham, but I was talking about Ascot!
