The winter transfer window is rarely boring, although it is often less exciting than its sister version in summer. But rest assured, rumors will be flying from the start as teams shed every advantage they can get in an effort to succeed in their respective campaigns.
In the Premier League, the fighting is fiercer than ever, with an open race for the Champions League emerging amid Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United all underperforming, while Chelsea have joined Arsenal in trying to create some sort of title. race which seems more and more one-sided thanks to Liverpool.
On the other hand, Southampton are in danger of setting all the wrong types of records given their low points tally at the halfway point, while fellow promoted side Ipswich Town could do with a miracle or two in the second half of the season to stay up to par. .
All this means a potentially frenzied rush to strengthen squads as suspensions hit and injuries take their toll ahead of a busy start to 2025 – particularly for those in contention for Europe and the cup.
As all 20 elite clubs seek changes to their squads, we have every club’s transactions from the opening day of the window until the deadline on Monday February 3.

5 players who could leave Arsenal in January
Many players could move this winter…
Villa Aston
Total spent: £21.5 million
Aston Villa made the Premier League’s first big splurge in January by spending an initial £19 million on Borussia Dortmund striker Donyell Malen. In a deal that could be worth £21.5 million with add-ons, the transfer sees Malen return to England after being a member of Arsenal’s youth team.
The Dutchman’s arrival will pose further questions over Jhon Duran’s future, with Villa’s super-sub expected to be on the move this summer before starting the season in top form.
There could still be more additions before the end of the month as Unai Emery continues to shape his squad ahead of the Champions League knockout stages.

Total spent: £11 million
Brighton made the first big deal of the January window, but thanks to their deal to sign midfielder Diego Gomez in December. They will pay £11m to MLS side Inter Miami for the Paraguayan, who becomes Fabian Hurzeler’s first signing this winter.
The Seagulls have had promising results in the first half of the Premier League season, so their 10th place heading into 2025 is somewhat disappointing.
However, they remain firmly in the race to return to European football at the first time of asking under their new head coach, who has overseen wins against Man City and Spurs in his first months in charge.

Tottenham Hotspur
Total spent: £15.8 million
Tottenham Hotspur haven’t had the best start to the season, and their lack of team options at times this season suggests they could well be busy over the coming weeks.
Their first arrival may not improve their squad depth too much, as youngster Yang Min-hyeok may not immediately receive substantial first-team playing time.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky has already made an impression, keeping a clean sheet on his debut against Liverpool before repeating the trick at Tamworth in the FA Cup following his £12.5 million move from Slavia Prague.
Ange Postecoglou will surely be on the lookout for more successful transfers over the coming month as Spurs look to escape the bottom half and qualify for Europe again while juggling their own Europa League commitments over the course of the new year.

Wolves
Total spent: £16.6 million
New Wolves boss Vitor Pereira wasted no time in jumping into the January market by welcoming Reims centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou to Molineux as he strengthens his defence.
Given that Wolves still have the leakiest defense in the Premier League, the Ivorian’s addition is not premature. Whether there will be more before the end of the window remains to be seen, but things have already started to improve following Old Gold’s dismal start to the campaign.
