Technology is not just for humans. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, a number of new smart pet gadgets were announced. Here are some of my favorites.
Pawport Smart Pet Door
A cat flap is perfect for a dog or cat who wants to come and go outdoors without needing someone to open and close the door. But the door is also a gateway for other creatures like insects and small rodents to enter your home.
The Pawport brings the essential intelligence to any existing cat flap or new construction. Your pet wears a small waterproof tag on its collar. This will open the door automatically and then close it once the cat or dog has passed. Using the companion app, you can control the door remotely, set curfews and much more. You can also see when your pet comes in and out.
The smart cat flap starts at $499 and arrives early this year.
Petcube Filtered Pet Fountain
A smart water fountain is one of my favorite smart home devices for a pet. And the Petcube Filtered Water Fountain is designed to provide clean, fresh water to a cat or small dog. The fountain uses a four-layer filtration system and antibacterial UV-C light.
The 1.7 liter reservoir is dishwasher safe and can store over 7 days of water. A 2,600 mAh battery will power the fountain for up to 20 days on a single charge. In addition to a bite-resistant cable, rubber feet will help keep the fountain in one place. Integration with the companion app will let you know when it’s time to change the water filter.
You can pre-order the fountain now. It’s $89.99 for a version with a ceramic bowl or $69.99 for a model with a stainless steel bowl. It will officially arrive on March 1st.
PETPA multi-animal feeder
PETPA’s Multi-Pet Feeder makes managing a feeding schedule for multiple cats or dogs a little easier. The system identifies each animal using a microchip and image recognition. It contains two different types of pet food and lets you create a feeding schedule for each pet with a companion app. The feeder holds up to 15 days of food for two cats and switches between specific bowls when each animal is identified.
There is no word on the retail price or release date of the charger.
