Timothée Chalamet Sparks Outrage With Jimmy Carter Joke On ‘SNL’

The remark, made weeks after Jimmy Carter died at age 100, drew gasps from the studio audience and Timothee Chalamet is now facing a wave of criticism online.

The incident occurred during the “Bungee” sketch, where Chalamet played an instructor during a training class. At one point, he told attendees to perform “the Jimmy Carter,” which led to everyone pouting in their harnesses, imitating death.

One viewer slammed the joke for being “totally disrespectful and out of line”, adding: “And yes, I have a sense of humor and I love the show, but it was just awful and too soon. I hope his family didn’t see this.

Another said the remark could even cost Chalamet his Oscar chances for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in “A Complete Inconnom.”

“If I were a betting man, I would have bet on Timothee Chalamet winning an Oscar for his portrayal of Dylan, but his dead Jimmy Carter joke on ‘SNL’ a full month before the vote puts an end to that. Insensitive and really immature. Just useless,” the fan wrote.

“It was funny until that Jimmy Carter line. Totally disrespectful and out of line,” someone else expressed. And yes, I have a sense of humor and I love the show, but this was just awful and too soon…I hope his family didn’t see this. “
