An American Airlines flight to Delhi de New York was forced to land in Rome on Sunday, following an “alleged bomb threat”. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, transporting 199 passengers and 15 crew members, was escorted by Italian Air Force fighter at Léonard Da Vinci International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the diversion had been implemented after the crew identified a “security problem”. The plane approached safely at 5.30 p.m. local time, where it was then inspected by the authorities responsible for the application of laws.
Upon their arrival, all the protocols were followed because the plane underwent in -depth security check. The Italian news agency Ansa said that the theft had been released at the request of American Airlines, launched by the need for a security inspection due to an “threat of alleged bomb”.
After a complete examination, the threat was classified as “non -credible”, allowing the plane to be “authorized to restart”. This inspection was in accordance with the protocols of Delhi airport, which require that all of these threats are fully investigated, whatever their credibility.
“Security and security are our main priorities and we apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” said the airline.
Passengers aboard the flight, which included nearly 200 people, were welcomed during the night in Rome, because the observed crew required of rest regulations.
The FAA and US airlines have assured that the security measures adopted were in accordance with international aviation regulations.
