The owner of Leigh Leopards, Derek Beaumont, criticized Salford Red Devils for having aligned a side of the “reserves” in their break 82-0 against St Helens.
Salford only appointed 16 players for the confrontation with St Helens following their decision to appoint “predominantly of squad players” in their team because of in progress disputes with the RFL concerning the salary ceilings.
Salford has entered the match still under A reduced durability ceiling of 1.2 million pounds sterling While their new property consortium is still awaiting final approval by the RFL and despite the fact that the first team players are always available under this ceiling to align a team of reserve players, with their first three teams of Joe Bullock, Tiaki Chan and Ben Hellewell on the bench.
The tastes of Ryan Brierley, Esan Marsters and Nene Macdonald presented for Salford last week in the Cup challenge, but the club chose not to play them in the Super League opening match.
This led the side to undergoing a demolition of 82-0 in the saints, the new recruit Tristan Sailor marking four tries during its beginnings in Super League.
After the result, Beaumont de Leigh went to social networks to criticize the club for his decision to switch young people.
“Complete lack of respect for Salford Red Devils to the whole Super League, these are the stakeholders and the fans that this has a total impact on the integrity of the Comp!” He said.
“What kind of new owners allow a coach to behave in this way?”
“I feel for the players who put the shirt and gave everything! They should have told him to put one on himself! Ravire!
“Backing the RFL is completely wrong, they knew what they had to do to choose from the full teams and did not find it and have only to blame!
“Could have chosen a team that went to Midlands but trying to give it the RFL and not to take care of their appearance and the damage to the game! In the words of Neil Diamond Money! Do not make fun of what we Let’s try to succeed!
“I feel for Salford fans, many of whom are my friends and are furious to be unnecessarily humiliated!”
Beaumont’s own team started the season with a historic 1-0 Golden Point victory over the Champions Régnant Wigan Warriors.
Salford’s head coach Paul Rowley conceded that the result was a “horrible look” for Super League, but was not sure if the situation would be resolved before their match against the Leeds rhinoceros next Saturday.
He said BBC Radio Manchester: “This is an unhappy situation. Liability lies in several people. It is difficult, but the players had a wonderful hand there because they had to try the most decorated side of the league during the last decade.
“It is a horrible score and a horrible look for the league. Fans of Salford have seen through, they can apply the logic and understand why. Fans were great and gave young players a day that they don’t ‘ will never forget.
“I shook the players by the hand. They gave their best, who knows [if it will be resolved by Leeds next week]. “”
In a long interview with the Bbc Before their breakup, Rowley discussed his controversial team selection, saying: “My job is to protect my players and I can’t talk about it enough. But I will do it nevertheless and I will be proud of them.
“No one wants to put our big match on this scene and not have our strongest team. We were in the impression and believing and always hope that we could play our main players.”
Rowley added to the club’s situation: “We bought the Ferrari, it is in the garage and the fuel is there but no one will let us drive it.
“There is no logic in there. Is it a punishment or a security measure put in place for the club, but ultimately, it is the players who suffer.
“I’m going to sit here and say that I think there are a lot of factors. It is a complex acquisition, this has never happened before, so I think we should all accept a certain responsibility.”
Sky Sports will once again show each match of the Super League live this season – including two games every round live exclusively, with the four remaining games each week shown on Sky Sports +
