Liverpool was continuing his title charge against Newcastle on Wednesday after traveling 11 points at the top of the Premier League during the weekend.
The Premier League which returns to Anfield only seems only a matter of time after the Reds beat Manchester City 2-0 in Etihad on Sunday, while Newcastle strengthened its first four hopes with a 4-3 victory against Nottingham Forest Earlier in the day.
It was an exciting element in the years spent in the English elite and the last meeting between the two was the last episode of this, the couple playing a 3-3 draw in St James’ Park in December.
It is also a precursor of the Carabao Cup which will take place in Wembley next month, the two sides wishing to be a blow before fighting for the first piece of silverware this season.
The Magpies have not won in Anfield from a 1-0 victory in the League Cup in 1995, when you had to return in 1994 to find the last time they triumphed in the Premier League in Liverpool. The Reds did not beat the TOON at home in 28 games.
