Rumor says that Manchester United Target Senne Lammens admitted that he should “think about it” if there was an opportunity for him move to Old Trafford.
Lammens is a talent for a guardian emerging in Royal Antwerp, becoming the starter of the Belgian team between the sticks this season. But there have been reports in the last months of Manchester United surveillance, which could be on the market for a new goalkeeper.
Doubts have emerged on the long-term future of Altay Bayindir in Manchester, with the 26-year-old Turk probably too good to be a sub-study at this stage of his career. The chances of Bayindir have been limited since their arrival in 2023, with Andre Onana the number one company under successive managers.
“I only played one full season in Antwerp,” said Lammens Gazet van Antwerpen.
“If something happens, I can hardly say no and who will benefit the club, I will have to think about it seriously. But if I am the goalkeeper of departure here for another year, it is not a problem.”
Lammens said that his initial reaction to the transfer rumors of United was “WOW”, admitting that he had also been tackled on this subject during training by Antwerp teammates.
“When I made a safeguard in the training, it was united like that, united. It’s funny, I would also do it with the goal. But you can’t dwell on it too long. It’s still only Rumors.
“But of course, it’s positive. Especially because it is the best competition in the world and my profile – my stature and my way of playing – is similar to English football. You have to keep it physically and it suits me.”
Antwerp has former veterans of the Premier League Toby Alderweireld, Vincent Janssen and Dennis Praet in their current team, but the club also made the headlines in 2023 to qualify for the group phase of the Champions League. The prodigy of midfielder Arthur Vermeeren was also sold for 18 million euros.
United has historical links with Antwerp, the Belgian Club being an unofficial agricultural team for several years in the 1990s and 2000s. Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton spent several months on loan in 2006, with John O’Shea, Phil Bardsley, Luke Chadwick, Ryan Shawcross and Danny Simpson among the many others also sent to Belgium to have a taste of football As a first team.
