Marseille will again envisage a decision for Paul Pogba at the end of the season after having opted against the signing of the midfielder in January.
Pogba is a free agent after leaving Juventus in November with the club and the player wanting a new start following a second disappointing fate in Turin.
The winner of the France World Cup was prohibited for four years after being tested positive for testosterone, but his sanction was reduced to 18 months on appeal. He is eligible to play again in March.
It constitutes an attractive acquisition for any ambitious club and Marseille, second to Ligue 1, adapts to the bill.
OM sports director Medhi Benatia told L’Equipe: “We thought about it [signing Pogba in January].
“We wanted to do it. The problem is that if we have brought Paul Pogba, who is not yet in good shape, is it logical to shake our team for a player who will not be able to participate in the end of the season?
“If something can be done, we will be delighted to welcome a player like Paul Pogba to give us a hand next year, if the opportunity arises.”
United Return?
Since the transfer window is now closed – and different rules apply through Europe on the question of whether clubs can record free agents – it seems that the 31 -year -old will have to wait until summer for summer that anyone who moves.
Pogba recently teased a return to Manchester United with a message on social networks and Rio Ferdinand would certainly consider the possibility.
The former defender United told Rio present: “You would like to think that he would do it [be going somewhere]. He must surely go somewhere.
“Pogba to United?” I would go and train with us and see what you have. I would do that. I would have already done that. I would say that I am in good shape and take a look.
