Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes admitted that it was his “dream” to raise the first major Newcastle trophy in 75 years after helping them reach the Carabao Cup final.
The Magpies beat Arsenal 2-0 in St James’ Park Wednesday evening to win a global 4-0 victory in the semi-finals and reserve their place in Wembley.
It will be the second appearance of Newcastle in the competition in three years and after failing against Manchester United in 2023, Guimaraes is desperate to continue better this time.
The Brazilian, who was named Skipper at the start of the season, told Sky Sports: “An incredible performance of everyone and we must also thank fans. Let’s go, another final for the club and hope that we can win this one.
“I felt anxious before the match, Big Game, Arsenal a high -level team, but when we play like that, we become an incredible team.
“Play like that and we can dream big. It would be incredible to get a trophy, it’s my dream to do it.
“Isak is the best striker these days for me. For me, the manager is incredible. He deserves credit. »»
“Since when I joined the club, my goal was to put my name in the history of the club” ✨

Howe: we are wiser than two years ago
The manager Eddie Howe says that Newcastle deserves their final place more than they were two years ago and feels that they are in a stronger position as a club to get better.
The boss of Toon said: “It’s huge [to get back to Wembley]. The first appearance was a little unexpected, but the club we want to be, we must be there regularly, so this is not a surprise.
“We are there in merit, our race was not easy this year, we faced four Premier League teams, so we did the hard sites.
“I hope we can learn from the last experience and improve our performance.”

Howe’s tactics surpass the artillerymen
While enjoying the ball less, Newcastle had control throughout the match in St James’ Park after the Manager Howe chose to go to a back to five, rather than its usual back.
This worked, with Newcastle’s second goal from the intense pressure from defender Fabian Schar on the edge of the Arsenal box, allowing Anthony Gordon to go home.
Howe added: “It was an excellent night for us. It was a difficult but tactically game we were good. The intention was to be aggressive and sometimes when you do it, it does not always work.
“Today, it did. I thought it had helped consolidate our plan. We sometimes had to withdraw but we were always in the game.
“The work [on the game plan] Started on Monday, which is fast. Last year, the Champions League helped us work on these two -day reversals.
“The players followed the instruction of the letter, they deserve the credit. Fabien [Schar] Had great distances to cover in his work, following Declan Rice, if he fell low or went widely or became central.
“Sometimes he went through the field. He is a good athlete and is very capable of doing so. »»
