IGA Swiatek stayed on the CAP for a fourth successive title to the Qatar Open with the victory against Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals.
In a rehearsal of last year’s final in Doha, Swiatek got a breakdown in the second set to win a 6-2 7-5 victory.
Swiatek becomes the first woman with the longest sequence of victories at the Qatar Open since the start of the tournament in 2001 with 15 consecutive victories.
“I’m super happy, super proud of myself,” said the post. “The second set, I felt like I had raised your level, so I needed to do it too.”
Rybakina started the year with an advantage of 4-2 in his head to head against Swiatek, but he is now level after the world number two followed his victory at the United Cup last month with another success.
Swiatek started the best competition, but Rybakina began to gain ground with his strong service and her features on the ground at the start of the second set, opening an advance of 4-2.
However, she could not maintain the advantage and Swiatek recovered the break before winning the victory when Rybakina doubled.
The second seeded was joined over the past four times by Ekaterina Alexandrova in good shape.
The Russian, who arrived in Qatar full of confidence after winning the WTA Tour event in Linz, followed his victory in the second round on the world number one Aryna Sabalenka by defeating the sixth seeded Jessica Pegula 4-6 6- 1 6-1.
