The agents of the central defender of Liverpool, Virgil Van Dijk, were spotted in the stalls of victory in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup of the Reds on Tottenham Hotspur.
Van Dijk is in the last six months of his contract with Liverpool and found himself linked to a whole series of European giants, and growing speculation has aroused a lot of concerns among supporters.
Barcelona is the last team to be linked to Van Dijk, which was mentioned as a possible target for Real Madrid, and the Dutch recently stressed that there was no truth about the rumors he already had accepted to extend his Liverpool contract.
There remains the hope, however, that Liverpool will be able to attach Van Dijk to new terms after his agents were spotted alongside the Reds sports director, Richard Hughes, in the middle of the week to watch Liverpool qualify to The Carabao Cup final at the expense of Tottenham.
Fabrizio Romano Confirmed the meeting between the agents of Hughes and Van Dijk, but warned the supporters that there is yet no agreement on an extension.
“It is true that the agents of Virgil Van Dijk were sitting next to the director of football of Liverpool, Richard Hughes, for the match against Tottenham,” he said. “There is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship between Liverpool and the agents of Virgil Van Dijk.
“For the moment, the decision has still not been made. But the conversations are continuing.”
