We are again in the long waiting period between the seasons of “Bridgeton”, which brings the tempting perspective to pivot the novels of Julia Quinn to discover what is happening next. It was confirmed that season 4 of “Bridgeton” will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the second son of the eponymous family. However, Benedict’s journey through the Netflix series was very different from its characterization in novels, which means that season 4 of “Bridgerton” could make major changes compared to source material.
In books, Benedict is the star of “an offer from a gentleman”, the third novel in the series. Netflix jumped to reserve four, “Romance MR. Bridgerton”, which focuses on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Cochlan), for season 3, and now returns for Benedict’s big love story. In the version of Quinn, he gets involved with a woman by the name of Sophie Beckett, the daughter of a count whom he meets at the famous masquerade ball of the Bridgeton family. The book is in a way a tribute to Cinderella, because, despite her station, Sophie is forced to play the maid to a cruel mother-in-law, while looking for Benoît for the masked woman who captured her attention to the ball. In the end, as you can suppose, they get married.
Sophie will be played by Yerin Ha in season 4 of “Bridgeton”, an actor who recently made a name for himself in shows like “Halo” and “Dune: Prophecy”. The masquerade ball itself is also tanned at the end of season 3, so we know that many aspects of history will remain the same in the book. But how will it all play in the divergent scenario of Benedict Netflix?
Yerin Ha will play Sophie Baek in season 4 of Bridgerton
While Sophie is always the love interest of Benedict in the series, she is a little different from what character readers know. First and foremost, his last name went from Beckett to Baek, because Ha is a Korean actor in Australia. This is very similar to the way the show managed the romance of season 2, which transformed Kate Sheffield of the novel into Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). Since the spectacle world is different from that of books in many ways, there are certainly many other adjustments to Sophie and his romance with Benoît.
“There is this theme with masks that worked in all my hearing scenes,” said Ha in an interview with Netflix Tudum. Since the love story begins with a masquerade ball in which Sophie sneaks, it makes sense. “When did Sophie put this mask to cover her emotions?” Ha says. “Or vice versa, when does she withdraw and when she softens? [questions] is really fun. “”
Everything we know about Bridgeton Season 4 so far
In addition to Yerin Ha, several other new characters have already been thrown for season 4 of “Bridgeton”. Katie Leung, perhaps the most famous for having played Cho Chang in the Harry Potter films, will join the cast as Lady Aramita Gun, a widowed mother of two are looking to make good games for her daughters during the season to come. These girls will be played by Michelle Mao (as an ambitious elder sister Rosamund Li) and Isabella Wei (as sweeter and more gentle posy li). The regulars of the series plus Emma Naomi and Hugh Sachs, who play Alice Mondrich and Brimsley respectively, have been improved towards the main cast of season 4.
Season 4 of “Bridgeton” is currently in production, the shooting that started in the fall of 2024. If the previous seasons are an indication, production will probably continue in the spring of 2025 and the season itself will probably not be Published before the last half of 2026. More, if the show continues with the release calendar in several games of season 3, it would mean even longer before the arrival of the full season. In short, fans still have a long wait in front of them, but things are moving forward at the expected rhythm, and we always have the books to fill our temporary time.
Benedict queerness can still play a major role in season 4 of Bridgerton
During the first three seasons of “Bridgeton”, Benedict made a self -discovery trip. His status as a second son in Regency England means that he begins a little drift in season 1, because he does not have the direct role in the family affairs of Anthony (Jonathan Bailey). He has some business with women “below” from his societal station, enrolled in art school (with the secret help of his big brother), and generally takes care of trying to find himself at the medium of a determined society to tell him what he is. Everything happens to a wonderful head in season 3 when Benedict has a love story with Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New) and Paul Suarez (Lucas Aurelio) at the same time, finally kissing his bisexuality.
Some fans have expressed their disappointment that despite Benedict’s recent queer story, his own season will be apparently a fairly simple adaptation of the novel. Of course, there is room for her relationship with Sophie to take new dimensions on Netflix, and the studio would be foolish not to take into account his previous “Bridgeton” character development.
For a good queer season of “Bridgerton”, we will probably have to wait for Francesca (Hannah Dodd) to become the star of the show. Although she marries a man at the end of season 3, the show prepared the field for a Saphic love story on the line.
How will Bridgerton Season 4 change an offer from a gentleman?
Beyond the new addition that Benedict is now bisexual, season 4 of “Bridgeton” already changes other elements of its history and Sophie. On the one hand, his last name has been changed to Becket in Baek, reflecting the change of the character’s race on the screen. This is very similar to the way the show managed the romance of season 2, which transformed Kate Sheffield of the novel into Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley).
This may not have a huge impact on real history, but if season 2 is an indication, the show will at least make its reasonable diligence to make changes here and there is this new background for The character. There is also the question of the many “Bridgeton” sub -intrigues that are going through each season and which have become more numerous over time. Characters like Will (Martins Imhangbe) and Alice Mondrich (Emma Naomi) continued to build their own stories parallel to the Bridgeton family, and other Frédés like Francesca and Eloise (Claudia Jessie) have already started the major arcs well before their Clean respective. The seasons started development.
