On Friday, an American influencer left Australia after the government announced that he was reviewing her visa on a video she published from her mother’s baby Wombat.
Sam Jones, who describes herself as an “outdoor passionate and Hunter”, made his private Instagram account on Thursday after being widely convicted for video.
“There has never been a better day to be a baby Wombat in Australia,” said the Minister of Internal Affairs, Tony Burke, in a statement after a government official confirmed that Jones had voluntarily stolen from the country.
In the video, Jones, based in Montana, raises the Wombat Joey by his legs before in the dark from an edge of the road, then fled from his mother.
“I caught a baby woman,” she said as a man who films his laughs. It returns the Wombat to the side of the road after several seconds.
Burke had declared earlier Friday that his visa conditions were being examined to determine whether immigration law had been raped. “I can’t wait for Australia to see the back of this person, I don’t expect them to come back,” he said in the statement received by the Associated Press.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese added his voice to criticism.
“Take a baby baby for her mother and clearly cause the mother’s distress, it’s just an outrage,” he said.
“I suggest to this so-called influencer, maybe she could try other Australian animals. Take a baby crocodile from her mother and see how you go. Take another animal that can really fight back rather than flying a baby Wombat to his mother.”
The American social media influencer Samantha Jones created a tumult in Australia after having published a video now deleted on her Instagram account from her grasping a wild baby from her mother. The Wombat is a protected species of Marsupial in Australia. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese denounced the act, saying that Jones should “try other Australian animals” instead, like a crocodile.
Jones, who also uses the name of Samantha Stable, closed his social networks to messages and could not be joined to comment on Friday.
The Wombat seems to be a common Wombat, also known as Wombat with the naked nose. It is a protected marsupial that is only found in Australia.
Yolandi Vermaak, founder of the animal caritative association Care Wombat Rescue, said that the separation of her mother’s young Wombat created a risk that the mother rejects her offspring.
“My biggest concern is that we have not really seen mom and baby meet.
Vermaak also called Jones to say where the Wombat was after the video showed that Joey had a skin disease. “The baby has a scab and it is a matter of time before he dies of scabies, so it is important for us to discover where it happened and to make this baby and his mom treat as soon as possible,” said Vermaak.
