The last time Nintendo really inaugurated the genre in the first person (FPS) was with Goldeneye 007 on the Nintendo 64 – and it was in 1997. Since then, other consoles have taken the lead with better controllers for shooters, with the follow -up of Nintendo. Now, the revelation of Joy-Cons du Switch 2 gives the publisher a real chance to compete in the shooters market.
Nintendo did not move away from major FPS games at the switch. Classic Games Doom and Quake are available alongside contemporary titles like Superhot and Dusk. The hybrid console even performs Overwatch 2 (although bad), allowing players to take play players of hero-player-player on the go.

But many other major FPS series have not arrived on the switch. The adoption of mouse controls is in the hands of third -party developers – and players
Nintendo has already made a solid statement on their support for third -party development for its new console. We know that the Switch 2 will have ports for some of the biggest AAA games published in recent years, notably Hogwarts Legacy, Split Fiction and even Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition.
This does not mean that each third -party developer will want to carry their game to change 2. Overwatch and Apex Legends are already there, but that does not guarantee that other developers will want to spend time and resources by creating a Switch 2 port for their shooter.
The way in which audiences choose to engage with the first batch of FPS games on the new console could also change the way in which third-party developers approach switch 2 and if they choose to take into account the joy-con mouse control scheme.
It is not a guarantee that switch 2 mouse orders will be a success for FPS players at this stage, because few people have practical experience with them. It is difficult to say if the fact of dragging the joy-con through the table will really approximate the end of the end of the aim with a mouse.
