“Just recently I received a real, heartfelt apology,” Brody, 41, said of Caitlyn, 75, on the Wednesday, January 15 episode of Special Forces: the toughest test in the world. “It was the first time in my life that I received an apology. You know, ‘I’m sorry I wasn’t there,’ and honestly, that meant a lot.
It’s no secret that Brody and Caitlyn share a complicated story. Long before becoming a star The hills or a competitor on Special ForcesBrody spent his formative years with a famous father who wasn’t always there. Caitlyn, formerly Bruce, transitioned in 2015, and since then their relationship has been “better,” Brody said on the Fox reality show.
When he was young, however, “I would see him randomly – ‘him’ at the time – you know, here and there,” he recalls. “But mom used to tell me I’d write on cards: ‘Why doesn’t dad call me on my birthday?'”
Caitlyn, a former Olympic decathlete and motivational speaker, has six children with three different wives: Burt Jenner And Cassandra Marin with Chrystie Scott, Brandon Jenner and Brody with Linda Thompson And Kendall Jenner And Kylie Jenner with Kris Jenner.
“I had an incredible mother,” Brody said in Special Forces. “Father, Bruce, back then, wasn’t around much. They broke up, then he met a woman. She also had children. The woman he met… they had children together.”
Caitlyn appeared on Keeping Up With the Kardashians (2007-2021) with his ex-wife Kris and their daughters Kylie and Kendall, in addition to Kim, Kourtney, Khloe And Rob Kardashian — Kris’s children from his previous marriage to the late Robert Kardashian.
Brody admitted that the Kardashian show made him feel “a little abandoned,” but looking back, he now understands that Caitlyn was “going through [her] our own struggles, our transitions, and that was all that was on television, and there were these moments that we would have that were all filmed, and it just seemed very invasive and not very authentic, I would say.
When Brody “found out that Caitlyn, or Bruce, wanted to be Caitlyn, it was kind of a relief,” he shared. “I think there’s a lot of things that started to make sense, you know, just in my life, about my dad, and maybe why he wasn’t here all those years.”
Brody has gained a new perspective since welcoming my daughter Honey with Tia Blanco in 2023.
“I think without Bruce growing up and her making that transition, it was hard to be his son,” he said in Special Forces. “I just had a beautiful baby girl. I no longer live for myself. I live for her. …I think it will make me a better father.
He added: “I’m going to do the exact opposite, as far as being there for her, like my dad did for me.”
