Match Overview for Arsenal V PSV
The PSV goes to Arsenal Wednesday in search of a miracle in the Champions League.
The Gunners wiped out their Dutch opponents 16 7-1 in the first leg of their home, just a few days before drawing with Manchester United in the Premier League.
Mikel Arteta’s men were ruthless in attack, even if they had some lucky escapes at the back.
The PSV struck the woodwork in the match and the debates rumble on the question of whether Myles Lewis-Skelly should have seen his third red card of the season in Eindhoven.
Nevertheless, Arsenal is the first team in the history of the Champions League to score seven goals from his home during the direct elimination towers of the competition.
This means that the atmosphere inside the Emirates Stadium will be completely relaxed for the second step, with Arteta, able to use squad players and save the legs for the quarter -finals.
They will face Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid in the next round, an intimidating task.
But there is a record that could be broken Wednesday evening. Arsenal must score three goals to only become the second English team to score 10 goals on equality of two legs of the Champions League.
PSV fans will always flock to London in large numbers, a testimony of their support and their loyalty to the club.
But their expectations for a first appearance in the quarter -final since 2007 will continue.
