It is the first night of the rodeo in Houston, Texas – Usually an essential event in the city.
But gathered in an Irish pub in the city’s suburbs are a group of young Republicans who do not want to miss Address at prospective hours in Congress.
A dozen members of the party stacked in the rear boutique of the pub while Fox News flourishes on the surrounding television screens.
People went out with red, white and blue, with flag pins and accessory scarves.
Before the start of the speech, club members told me how excited they were to hear Trump’s political proposals.
If they were to give him a note the first 44 days in power, it was a unanimous “A +”.
“He has already exceeded all expectations,” said a person.
While the president was heading for the podium, the group’s chatter stopped, but the applause and the laughter did not do so.
Sporting a Trump-Vancel baseball cap, Evan Howard, 26, raised his glass whenever the president said something with which he agreed. And it was a lot.
“He will repress the crime and be hard with the cartels. He will stop a lot of American blood effusion,” he said.
But Evan conceded that 44 days, he does not feel the benefit of President Trump to return to power. At least, not yet, and it is happy to wait.
“I’m not too better, to be honest, but I like what he does,” said Evan. “I see the work that is done, and I understand that some of these changes that he puts through will not pass immediately and that we will see their effects in the future.”
Sitting in front of Evan was Brittany, who was much less expressive throughout the event than the rest of the table. A 31 year old Woman, she is new to the Republican Party.
“I think he did good. I thought it was a very unifying message,” she said. “He stressed a lot to which the Democrats, to whom I really felt connected at some point, failed to support.”
“”[The Democrats] tend to defend certain things that do not really apply to Americans as a whole. Americans are struggling. You have crime problems, you have people who lose their house, you have people who become homeless. And the liberals want to talk about pronouns. “”
The mentions of pronouns, sex and “percohility” aroused a lot of cheers and crowd strikes on Tuesday evening.
The hoots came each time the cameras rushed to Nancy Pelosi, or democrats holding signs in the crowd, or any legislator who looks asleep in the crowd.
The only comment for President Trump tonight? Maybe talking about Joe Biden a little less.
But if not, the message of separation of this group is: the promises made and the promises held.
