At International Women’s Day, the president of the Adani group, Gautam Adani, reaffirmed his commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women, sharing a deeply personal message on strong women who have shaped his life.
Adani, who attributes to his mother, his wife Priti Adani and his granddaughters for having inspired his vision, thought about his trip to the promotion of an inclusive world. He stressed that gender equality is not only a business objective but a personal mission – which has become even more urgent with the birth of his granddaughters.
In a sincere article on social networks, Adani recalled the moment when he held his first granddaughter, making a silent promise to ensure a future where she would not face any limits to her aspirations.
“A decade ago, when I rocked my delicate fingers of my first granddaughter, I made a silent wish: to help build a world where his aspirations would know no limits, where his voice would resonate with the same respect as that of any man, and where his value would be measured only by his character and his contributions.”
With three granddaughters today, this promise is more and more strong. He has recognized that if progress has been made, women continue to cope with management obstacles and opportunities.
“However, under this pride is a silent impatience. Because despite the measure we arrived, my granddaughters can still enter the conference rooms where they are the only women at the table. They may still have to fight stronger, speak stronger and prove twice to receive the recognition they deserve.”
Adani remembers visiting one of the ports of the Adani group and noticing the absence of women in operational roles and leadership. This achievement has led to policy changes within the company, pressure for more inclusion and mentorship for women.
“Several years ago, during a visit to one of our port projects, I noticed the absence of women in operational roles and leadership. It was not due to a lack of capacity but rather to the lack of paths for them in these areas traditionally dominated by men. This achievement has triggered a personal commitment to change.”
Adani highlighted the key initiatives of the Adani Foundation, including the Framework of Butterfly Effect, which supports women at different stages of life, and the Lakhpati Didis program, which has helped more than 1,000 women reach financial independence.
“In addition, our” Lakhpati Divis initiative, famous for more than 1,000 women who have reached financial independence thanks to an improvement in entrepreneurial skills “.
By concluding her message, Adani urged men to management positions to consider gender equality as a shared responsibility and to accelerate action to create a world where women thrive in equal.
“Talents, ideas and women’s leadership are invaluable resources that we cannot afford to waste.”
Addressing his granddaughters directly, he left them a powerful message of hope and determination:
“The world of which you inherit should be the one where your shine is encountered with open doors, not glass ceilings. Where your ambitions are never questioned, only encouraged. Where your voice is not only heard, but sought after. I proceed to continue to push, to continue to break the barriers, until this world is not only a vision but a reality.”
