If you are new in massage pistols, there are things to keep in mind, you are doing the best party. We spoke with the sports chiropractor and hyperice ambassador Julia Morgan for advice on best massage practices.
Choose the right massage gun: There are different types of massage pistols on the market, so it is useful to know if you want something heavy because you are very active or if you don’t need the massage gun with all the bells and whistles because you are only going to use it from time to time. It is also important to set a budget for yourself, because some massage pistols can go more than $ 100.
Know which specifications to consult: When you choose a massage gun, there are a few features that you want to look: the amplitude and the stall force. “The stalling force simply means the pressure that the engine of the massage gun can resist before the engine lies with us,” explains Morgan. The amplitude refers to the depth of the region. You will generally see the amplitude in the 8 mm, 12 mm or 16 mm as the deepest range. Usually, robust massage pistols have the greatest amplitude.
Know the attachments: Most massage guns will be delivered with a few different accessories that you can change depending on the area you are targeting. For example, common attachments can include a standard ball that is good for large and small muscle groups, a ball that is intended to target the legs and back muscles, a forked head that is intended to target the spine, shoulders and neck, and a flat head that offers a softer massage on the larger muscles.
How often use: Massage pistols are sure to use regularly as long as there is no health problem to answer first. Morgan says: “People with thin skin, who have musculoskeletal or underlying vascular conditions, or who are pregnant, should consult their doctor before use.” Although massage pistols are sure to use daily to soothe the painful muscles or as part of a warm -up, it is important to make sure that you do not feel chronic pain. “If you use it every day on pain that does not disappear or does not improve after two or three days, this may require another intervention,” warns Morgan.
Start slowly: It can be tempting to put your massage gun in the highest setting, but the key is to start slowly. “Slide the massage gun gently on the area that does not last too long in a position,” explains Morgan. Use the massage gun in different directions and work on this area for about a few minutes and take a break if necessary.
