I am the mother of four children, but I will always be haunted by the loss of my firstborn son, Weston. Weston was 15 years old when a fentanyl laces pill poisoned him in 2022.
My son was not a drug addict; He was a vibrant and active teenager with a big heart. He attended the church twice a week, played football and hockey, surfed in the Pacific and Ri, which could light up a room.
I tried to be the best mother I can be, encourage her during her games, cook family dinners, volunteer at school, but none of that was enough to save him from the poison that tears our country.
Due to poor border policies of the previous administration, our children can no longer learn from their mistakes; Now they die from them.
Weston’s death was not an overdose; It was poisoning. Like so many adolescents, he wanted to integrate and made a mistake to take a friend’s pill, thinking it was sure. A pill. An error. That’s all it took to steal his future and steal my son from our family.
I represent a border district which has been overwhelmed by illegal immigration. What I see now might surprise you
Due to poor border policies of the previous administration, our children can no longer learn from their mistakes; Now they die from them.
I hold Joe Biden and each Democrat who defends the open borders responsible for the death of my son. Each!
When Biden took office in 2021, we live in southern California and he threw the doors to our general country. Our borders have become a motorway for chaos while cartels, traffickers and fentanyl have flocked. I never imagined that it would one day take my son. It was never going to happen in my house; This is something you only saw on the news.

But the policies of Biden and his “border tsar”, Kamala Harris, closed his eyes on the poison flooding our streets. They allowed it to happen and families like mine have paid their reckless policy.
Mexico has violated international law with cartels and Americans undergo the consequences
Illicit fentanyl is now the main cause of death for Americans aged 18 to 45 and is responsible for almost 70% of the 110,000 “overdose” deaths that we see each year in this country. A pill … a single pill, can end a life. Weston’s death is proof of this.
It is not a question of dependence; It is such a deadly and addictive offer, it is essential. And where does it come from? Mexico, with its cartels not operating without control; Canada, where fentanyl laboratories appear under Lax surveillance; And China, which sends the chemicals that feed this nightmare. For too long, these countries did not do anything during the death of our children.
This is why I am so grateful to President Donald Trump. He takes the fentanyl crisis seriously, which I would like to see when Weston was still alive. President Trump implements import prices from Canada, Mexico and China to keep them responsible for allowing this poison to circulate freely in our country.
He doesn’t just talk about the problem; President Trump strikes these nations where it hurts: in their wallets. The president does not think that they did enough, and no longer of the Cartels of the Government of Mexico. Canada allows laboratories to proliferate. China floods the precursor market. Enough, that’s enough!
Four difficult questions for four mayors of the “sanctuary city”
These prices are an embroidered awakening to force responsibility. They say to our neighbors and business partners: stop drugs or pay the price.
Some criticisms complain about the costs of these prices, but I ask, what is the cost of a child’s living? What value do you put on my child and the hundreds of thousands of people who lost their lives on American soil under the last administration?
I would pay anything to recover Weston, and President Trump understands it. He is a father and a fighter, using the American economic muscle to protect families like mine. It is not a question of politics; This is survival.
I think of my Weston every day. He should be 18 years old now, planning his future, his university path, which he wants to specialize, not reduced to a name on a tombstone. Biden’s open borders have let this poison enter, but Trump’s prices are a step towards the stop.

It is too late for my son, but it is not too late for yours. The fentanyl crisis has taken too much, with hundreds of thousands of American lives stolen by an illicit drug, a poison that seems unstoppable.
President Trump shows that he is ready to try something different, something hard. For that, I say: Thank you, Mr. President, thank you. Continue to fight!
