Several thousand packets of oyster cookies are recalled after a manufacturer of food products has detected the possibility of contamination involving “foreign materials”.
Ohio Shearer’s Foods food manufacturer, LLC launched the recall on February 21. Tuesday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) improved the reminder in class II, its second risk classification.
Class II reminders involve products which “can cause unwanted consequences on temporary or medically reversible health or when the probability of serious harmful consequences on health is distant”.
The recall relates to certain prizes of market pantry (target), of great value (Walmart), giant oyster crackers and giant eagle, in addition to a bulk variety not intended for retail. Some 15,874 cases were recalled by the FDA.

The following products are assigned:
- Pantry and cracker soup on the pantry with an UPC code of 085239114933; A date of sale of 23May2025 and a code date of 23May2025BC06
- Great Value Sou & Oyster Crackers with an UPC code of 078742085494; A date of sale of May 23, 2025 and code dates of May 23, 2025 ABO6, May 23, 2025 BBO6, May 23, 2025 CBO6
- Giant eagle eagle crazy with an UPC code of 030034915087; A date for the best date of May 24, 2025, and a code date of May 24 25 AB06.
- Vista Soup & Oyster Crackers with an UPC code of 045100008006; A date for the best of May 24, 2025 and a code date of May 24 25 AB06.
- 20LB. Bulk oyster crackers with an UPC code of 10045100400203; A better date of May 24, 2025; and dates of code of May24 25 AB06, May 24 25 BB06.
Tuna boxes sold at Trader Joe’s, Walmart and other supermarkets remembered a “potentially fatal” fault
The recalled products were sold in the following states: Alabama, Calrado, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Caroline du Nord, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and Wiscons.
Officials did not disclose details on how the products were potentially contaminated, but the FDA opinion referred to the “stainless steel wire” as the culprit.

Consumers are encouraged to return the products assigned to the place of purchase for a refund or an exchange.
Metal contamination is not unknown in food reminders. Last month, more than two million Granola Madegood bars were recalled “due to the potential presence of a piece of metal in the product, which, if consumed, can lead to a safety risk,” said the manufacturer.

In January, the chicken and cheese teases Casa Mamita d’Aldi were also recalled for fear of contamination by metals. The budget grocery chain told consumers to “throw away [the affected products] Immediately or return [them] At their local store for a full refund. “”
