Air India has announced a temporary reduction in its international flight operations, citing improved pre-theft safety protocols and extended flight durations due to aerial space closings in the Middle East. The adjustments, in force on June 21 at least on July 15, aim to improve the stability of the calendar and to minimize the last -minute disturbances.
Three routes will be suspended during this period: Delhi-Nairobi (AI961 / 962), Amritsar-London Gatwick (AI169 / 170) and Goa (MOPA) -London Gatwick (AI145 / 146). In addition, several North American and European roads will see a decrease in the frequency of flights.
For North America, key changes include:
- Delhi-Toronto: reduced to 7 flights per week from 13
- Delhi-Vancouver: up to 5 from 7
- Delhi-San Francisco: cut at 7 of 10
- Delhi-Chicago: reduced to 3 of 7
- Delhi-Washington Dulles: cut at 3 from 5
In Europe:
- Delhi-London Heathrow: reduced to 22 flights each week by 24
- Bengaluru-London Heathrow: Cut 6 of 7
- Amritsar / Delhi-Birmingham: reduced to 2 by 3
- Delhi-Paris: now 12 flights each week from 14
- Delhi-Milan: 4 from 7
- Delhi-Copenhagen: reduced to 3 of 5
- Delhi-Vienne and Delhi-Amsterdam: slightly cut
The discounts also apply to roads in Australia and Far East, including cuts on Delhi-Melbourne, Delhi-Sydney, Delhi-Tokyo (Haneda) and Delhi-Seoul (Incheon).
Air India reaches out to affected passengers, offering alternative flight options, free reprogramming or complete reimbursements. Updated schedules are available on the airline website, application and contact centers. The airline has reaffirmed its commitment to security and has expressed its intention to resume full services as soon as the conditions allow.
