Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, said on Sunday that he was not worried about the long -term American markets, even if the actions dropped last week in the mid -threat of President Donald Trump, telling the Americans that there will be a “transition”, not a “crisis”.
Bessent made these remarks during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet The Press”, saying that “a week does not do the market”, when asked if the Americans whose retirement is invested in the markets should be affected.
“We have these major government deficits, 6.7% of GDP,” said Bessent. “We have never seen this when we are not in wartime, not in recession. We make them fall responsible. We will have a transition. And we are not going to have a crisis.”
Bessent said stock market corrections are “healthy” and “normal”.

“What is not healthy is directly, that is to say the euphoric markets,” he said. “This is how you get a financial crisis.”
Bessent noted that if “someone had put the brakes in ’06 -’07”, it could have prevented the problems leading to the 2008 accident.
“So I’m not worried about the markets,” he said. “In the long term, if we set up a good tax policy, deregulation and energy security, the markets will be very good.”

After seeing major oscillations at the start of the week on the rise in commercial tensions, the three main American benchmarks timed solid gains on Friday, with the industrial average of Dow Jones up 1.6%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite increased by more than 2%.

However, for the week, the DOW lost 3%, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite fell by 2%.

“This is a transition period, because what we do is very great. We bring the richness in America,” Trump told Fox Business, Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures”.
