Liverpool was beaten by Newcastle United in the English League Cup final earlier during the day.
Newcastle won the 2-1 match, thanks to the goals of Dan Burn and Alexander Isak. Federico Chiesa won a consolation objective for Liverpool deep in additional time. However, it is not enough for the Reds to withdraw anything from the competition.
Liverpool was completely outdated by a deserving team from Newcastle who has now ended his prolonged expectation for a trophy.
The Reds were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League earlier this week and defeat in the Cup final will be a hammer blow for them. It remains to be seen if Liverpool can rebound strongly and bring back their stuttering campaign on the right track.
However, Liverpool has now received a hard blow with midfielder Harvey Elliott who injured the end of the match. The midfielder had to be helped out of the field by medical staff, and a video of the incident indicates that there could be more problems for Arne Slot and his team in the coming weeks.

Liverpool needs team depth
The lack of rotation in recent months has left Liverpool players lying down, and they will have to rotate the team in the coming weeks to extract optimal performance levels and win the title.
If the injury to Elliott is serious, it could be a hard blow for Liverpool. The young talented attacking midfielder is capable of placing in several roles and his ability to create notation opportunities and find the back of the net could have been very useful for the Reds.
It will be interesting to see if he can go back to action quickly. Liverpool has shown a sharp drop in form in recent weeks and the injury could not have arrived at a worse time.
