Turner first shared news from his diagnosis with People magazine In December 2024, revealing that slow growth cancer was discovered after seeing an orthopedic surgeon for a persistent shoulder injury.
“It was as if 10 tonnes of concrete had dropped me on me. And I was a little in denial for a while, I did not want to admit it,” he said at the time.

Turner has since said that the diagnosis may have influenced its point of view on the relationship, but the NIST is not convinced that it was a factor in their split.
