The United Kingdom is expected to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup as the only “valid” tenderer for the tournament, according to FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
A joint offer was submitted in March by England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, proposing to organize the tournament in the four countries of origin in 10 years.
The rules for rotating FIFA accommodation require competition to take place in Europe or Africa for this edition.
Last week, Rafael Louzan, president of the Spanish Football Federation, said that Spain explored a joint offer with Portugal and Morocco.
However, with the deadline for declarations of interest now closed, Infantino confirmed that the submission of the United Kingdom is the only official offer for 2035. Meanwhile, the United States remains the favorite to accommodate the 2031 tournament.
“Today, I can confirm as part of the tender process that we received an offer for 2031 and an offer valid for 2035,” said Infantino during a UEFA congress in Belgrade.

“The offer of 2031 is the United States of America and potentially other members of the Concacaf, and the offer of 2035 comes from Europe and the nations of origin.
“The path is therefore there for the Women’s World Cup in 2031 and 2035 to take place in large nations and further increase the women’s football movement.”
Mark Bullingham, CEO of FA, was delighted with news.
He added: “We are honored to be the only tenderer of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2035. The hard work now begins to set up the best possible offer by the end of the year.”
Sarina Wiegman, head coach of the lionesses, said: “We know the experience of euros [in 2022] What is the size of the game already here and what momentum has made in the country. Another tournament on an even larger scene would be incredible and would give another boost to the game. ”
Official offers must be submitted this winter, FIFA should confirm the hosts by a vote at its congress in 2026.
Infantino also revealed that the 2031 Women’s World Cup will extend to 48 teams, up the 32 teams planned for the 2027 edition.
If confirmed, the 2035 tournament will mark the second time that a World Cup takes place in the United Kingdom, after the 1966 male tournament in England.
