A food manufacturer recalls nearly 500,000 pounds of sandwiches for breakfast ready to eat due to “erroneous”, according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Hearthside Food Solutions, LLC, based in Salt Lake City, recalls 489,887 pounds of breakfast sandwiches in sausage and bacon, USDA announced on Wednesday.
The products were poorly extended and contained sesame, which can be fatal for consumers with certain allergies.
Many sandwiches have been shipped to the locations of Army & Air Force exchange services across the country.

The following brand products have been recalled:
- 8.35-OZ. Individual films sandwiches of “Lettieri’s Food to Go Saucisse, Egg & Cheese French Toast Breakfast Sandwich” with lot codes starting with numbers 23, 24 and 25 to 2508451.
- 7.3 oz. Individual film sandwiches “Letteri’s Food to Go Bacon, Egg & Cheese French Toast Breakfast Sandwich” with lot codes starting with numbers 23, 24 and 25 to 2508451.
The USDA inspection mark on products also contains the establishment number “is. V4907 ”.

The recall is linked to sesame, but the sandwiches did not contain sesame seeds – a component of the breakfast sandwiches was in sesame flour.
“The problem was discovered when the production establishment informed the FSI that the French toast component of their breakfast sandwiches contained sesame flour, but it was not included in the list of ingredients on the label of breakfast sandwiches,” noted the USDA.

No report of unwanted reactions or injuries has been caused, but the press release urged consumers worried to contact a health care provider if necessary.

The USDA noted that its food security and food inspection service is “concerned that certain products can be in freezer or consumer or AAF refrigerators”.

“These products must be thrown or returned to the place of purchase,” advised the government agency.
