Red Bull could potentially dismiss Liam Lawson twice in a season and replace it with Arvid Lindblad. This is the point of view of the former McLaren pilot, Juan Pablo Montoya, while the Kiwi has trouble recovering from being abandoned from the senior team.
Liam Lawson’s career trajectory denounced this season, and compared to his position at the start of the year, Max Verstappen teammate in Red Bull, he examines an uncertain future. The Kiwi started the year with the senior team, but after a terrible start with the team in the first two races, it was quickly replaced by Yuki Tsunoda.
Admittedly, suffering from the drop-off after only two weekends, Liam Lawson was then transferred to racing bulls where he joined Isack Hadjar. The kiwi was decent and showed an overview of the rhythm, but it seems that the French recruit has the advantage over it in general.
With the two Bulls pilots on a one -year contract and the junior of Red Bull Arvid Lindblad showing an impressive form at the start of Formula 2, there are suggestions that the Austrian team would like to speed up the young F1 driver to see how good he can be. If this happens, one of the two pilots of the sister team would face the boot.
Speaking to AS, Juan Pablo Montoya said it wouldn’t surprise him if Arvid Lindblad was in 2025 while Red Bull dropped Liam Lawson. He said,
“I’m going to tell you the truth. If Liam is not improving more, I would not be surprised if they put Lindblad at some point. Not at all. I would not be a little surprised. Honestly, Liam received the green light last year and proved that he had what it takes to do a good job. They gave him the Red Bull seat, and he won it.”
He added,
“The situation of Red Bull was complicated and I think it took a very strong blow to his liver, and he needs a lot of psychological treatment after that. And if he will not recover soon, I am sure that Red Bull will start to look elsewhere because that’s how they work. [Colapinto] Do not manage well, the same will happen. “”
Red Bull’s next great prospect
The next great prospect of the Austrian team seems to be Arvid Lindblad, and the young person is someone whose senior staff have talked a lot. The young driver is currently competing in F2 and is only 17 years old. The driver has already won a victory in the series, becoming the youngest driver to do so.
Lindblad was mentioned by Helmut Marko also at the start of the year in an interview with the Podcast Inside Line, where the Austrian said,
“We are not looking for a new maximum, we are looking for a new champion and I think the next one who seems really promising is Arvid Lindblad. I think in the past, if I compare myself with [Jack] Doohan, or with [Oscar] Piastri, or also with [Oliver] Bearman, they passed a lot of tests in the version of the two -year version of Formula 1. “
He added,
“For example, Liam Lawson did not have this opportunity, and also [Isack] Hadjar, in a certain amount, did not have this opportunity. And that we will change for Arvid that he, if he has a very good season in Formula 2, that he can go with a good experience in Formula 1 in 2026. Perhaps. “”
Liam Lawson, in his share, hopes to recover the kind of form that helped him ensure a seat alongside Verstappen, even if he seems that the driver has not yet struck his groove alongside Isack Hadjar at Racing Bulls.
