On March 4, 2024, Wan stole a diamond ring worth $ 225,000 from the Tiffany & Co. store on the fifth avenue in Manhattan. He went to jewelry to question the employees about several articles – one of them being the diamond ring. While examining the ring, Wan secretly slipped it into his palm and exchanged it with a counterfeit of cubic zirconia. He left the store without buying anything, and an employee unconsciously put the false ring back in the display, according to the Manhattan DA office.

A week later, Wan again held her luck in a Cartier store in the Hudson Yards complex. He asked an employee if he could see several jewelry, including two engagement rings. While the employee was distracted, Wan returned only one of the diamond rings instead of two. He slipped the ring, evaluated at around $ 24,000, in his pocket and left the store again without paying, as indicated in the press release.
