The Federal Aviation Administration used a backup system to send real -time security alerts to the drivers on Saturday evening, because its main was “to undergo a temporary failure,” said the transport service.
“The main NOTAM system is experiencing a temporary breakdown, but there is currently no impact on the national airspace system because a backup system is in place,” said Transport Secretary Sean Duffy said on social networks.
Mr. Duffy referred to “Opinion to air missions”, the alerts that the FAA uses to share information on the dangers in air or on the ground, such as closed tracks, airspace restrictions and disturbances of navigation signals.
He said the FAA was trying to fully restore the system and that the agency would provide updates to its status every 30 minutes. But he warned against any “residual” flight delays on Sunday morning.
