The actors all have different objectives in their careers, and because they generally cannot get started, they do not have much to say how or if these objectives are achieved. In the end, whether they have a preference for theater, cinema or television does not really matter if their goal is to remain employed as an actor. You take the best concert offered and hope that this will lead to more offers.
If regular work is the goal, you cannot do better than getting work as a regular in the series in a long -standing network television program. Whether it is a drama or a sitcom, these series have seasons that amount to 24 episodes. They pay remarkably well, and they give you the opportunity to work while you are on a break or you rest until the start of next season. Anyway, unless you are total expenditure, you lower more than sit per year to live comfortably for the rest of your life.
But as with any job, doing the same from year to year can become a version. For an actor, playing the same character on a network program does not often allow you to stretch these performance muscles; Faithful viewers connect each week to see a specific formula followed by a T, which means that each character, with exceptions very closely, serves the intrigue in the same way in each episode. This can age after a while, which is why some actors move away from a comfortable concert on a very classified series. Is that why Emily Wickersham left the “NCIS” CBS procedure after eight successful seasons?
Emily Wickersham was just ready to say goodbye to Ellie Bishop
When Wickersham joined “NCIS” in 2013 at the start of season 11, she replaced Pablo coast, who was not satisfied with the direction of her character, special agent Ziva David, after nine seasons on the series. Wickersham settles with the whole as a special Ellie Bishop agent, and has become a fans’ favorite until she left the series at the end of season 18 in 2021.
Unlike De Pablo, Wickersham was not unhappy with the representation of Ellie. As she explained on the podcast “Outside the service: a RCIS Rewatch,” “I was ready to leave the show. It was time and I was ready to move on, and I guess was something other than I was supposed to go. So it was good.”
This “other” to which she refers is to become pregnant with her first child (with her husband James Badge Dale), even if she did not know that she was with children before her departure “NCIS”. As for her stay in the series, she had this to say about her Instagram:
“This casting, this crew, is of first order. I cannot say enough kind words about this group with which I had the pleasure of working for almost 8 years now and 172 episodes later. This company is capricious and bizarre and consistency is a rarity. I was lucky to be part of a program where I arrived to show you and act and laugh with wonderful people.”
Wickersham has not returned to play since its appearance, but perhaps itching will come back at some point. Otherwise, she was lucky to have an excellent race on “NCIS” (which was in itself a spin-off of “Jag”).
