The absence of Jimmy White of the world championship will extend at 20 years after losing in the second qualification round.
White, 62, has not presented to The Crucible since a defeat in the first round in 2006 and lost each year.
This record extended to a 19th year when it was broken by Ashley Carty.
The Rotherham Potter beat the finalist six times 10-5 at the English Sports Institute in Sheffield.

Former winner of the German masters Anthony Hamilton interrupted a sensational response from Steven Hallworth, who had dragged 9-0, creating an authorization defying the momentum to win 10-8.
No player has ever won a match at the best of 19 from 9 to 0 in Down, but Hallworth seemed to be on the right track for the story when he led 63-0 in the 18th setting. The match seemed ready for a final frame, when Hamilton summoned an authorization of 69 to win on the dark.
“It’s as difficult as trying to overcome the line in a classification final. It is a story that would follow you for the rest of your life. If you lose 9 to 0, you are on quizs and things. You don’t want it,” said Hamilton, 53.
“He had left for the first session, I left there. It was an appropriate match of two halves. And when I say, I mean.
“He directed everything. You see this checking board and you are everywhere in the blunder! I told my companion at 8-0, I am not above the line here, my eyes are not good enough to think that it is a finished affair. I knew I could lose the match.”

Marco Fu made the seventh 16 red in the history of professional snooker in his qualification match against Ben Mertens on Thursday.
The Hong Kong Fu star took the brown as an additional red, then put the green and continued to take the 15 red with colors, then eliminated the table for a total of 139.
The highest break in the history of the snooker was compiled by Jamie Burnett during the qualifiers for the British championship in 2004 when a free ball at the start of the frame helped him make a 148.
