Colin Farrell opens with the difficulties he experiences when he tries to find long -term care for his son, James, who has a rare genetic disorder.
Last year, the actor discussed his experience as the father of his 21 -year -old son, who was diagnosed with Angelman syndrome at 4 years old.

Farrell revealed that James’ mom and wanted to “find a place where we love where he can go now, when we are still alive and healthy, that we can visit, and we can get it out sometimes.”
He explained that they wanted James to find a place “where he can have a full and happy life, where he feels connected”.
Farrell pointed out that James needed more than simply attention but deserves a more complete life rooted in the community and the daily connection.
He also talked about the importance for James to engage in activities like going out in the van every day, shopping together at the supermarket and doing things like visiting the beach, museums and films.

Although Farrell knows the type of installation that will benefit the most in James, he admitted that it had been difficult to find an appropriate residential care option.
He noted: “And by realizing this, I thought: if I have these difficulties, what about all the other families who have nothing close to the means I have?”
This achievement encouraged Farrell to remember why he had founded a foundation to meet the needs of adults living with Angelman syndrome.
He explained: “I always knew that I wanted to do something about it, but so far, I’m just really busy breeding my two children.”

The actor, who also shares a 15-year-old son, Henry, with actress Alicja Bachleda-Curú, added: “But now they are operational and I think I have a little more space to do something. This is the start for the foundation, so we are still in a baby.”

He also congratulated James for his determination and resilience, highlighting the daily challenges he faces. “James worked so hard all his life, so hard,” said Farrell. “Repetition, repetition, balance, its jerky approach.”
Thinking about milestones like food, Farrell added: “When he started to eat for the first time, his face looks like a Jackson Pollock at the end. But he understands it, he feeds beautifully.”
