An alleged member of the Islamic State is questioned in Iraq after officials of this country accused him of playing a role in the dayless New Year Terrorist attack in New Orleans.
However, American officials say they have not established a direct link between the suspect in Iraq and 42 years Shamsud-Din JabbarThe American citizen of Texas who led his truck through a crowd of revelers for several pies of houses on rue Bourbon, kill 14 people.
Din Jabbar piloted the black and white flag of the Islamic State at the back of the truck when he led the attack, but the Islamic State has never officially taken responsibility for the attack.
US officials told CBS News that the FBI investigation was underway.
“While we continue to work with our partners to apply the law, in the United States and abroad, on the basis of information to date, we continue to believe that Shamsud Din-Jabbar has acted alone to attack rue Bourbon,” the FBI said on Tuesday in a statement published in CBS News.
The Iraqi authorities published a statement on April 27 saying that the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation had received a request from the United States to help its investigation into the New Orleans terrorist attack. The press release indicates that the suspect was found to be a member of the Islamic State foreign operations office.
Din Jabbar praised a White Ford van in Houston and went to New Orleans to carry out the attack, the American authorities said. After sinking his truck into a crowd early in the morning of January 1, he died during a shooting with the police.
Before attacking, he published videos on social networks indicating that he was inspired by Isis and expressed the desire to kill.
