The Trump administration is expanding its anti-dei campaign to European companies.
Government representatives would have sent letters to companies in France and the European Union who hold American government contracts, which has warned them to comply with an executive decree prohibiting diversity, equity and inclusion programs if they want to keep their contracts.
According to the document, “the entrepreneurs of the State Department must certify that they do not manage any program promoting Dei which violates the applicable anti-discrimination laws and agree that this certification is important for the payment decision of the government and therefore subject to the law on false complaints”.
The letters, distributed by American embassies in Paris and through the EU, also included a questionnaire ordering companies to certify their compliance with anti-discrimination federal laws. The existence of the letter was reported for the first time Friday by the French daily Les Echos.
American diplomats in the EU Eastern EU and Belgium also sent the letter, the Financial Times reported.
Aviation and defense groups, consulting providers and infrastructure companies are among the French companies potentially exposed to requests from the administration.
