In the main support of the Jaron Ennis Eimantas Stanionis event, the former WBA featherweight world champion Raymond “Savage” Ford delivered a dominant performance, while he defeated Thomas Mattice (22-5-1, 17 KO) by the unanimous decision.
The match was never in doubt because Ford was able to present its offensive arsenal. Mattice showed tenacity, but unfortunately for mattis, he could not generate enough offense to give himself a chance to win the fight.
In the first round of the superpasted weight combat of 10 laps planned, Raymond Ford was on the front foot, using his southern jab. Ford only needed 40 seconds to close the distance, enter the range and land a burst of punches.
In the second round, Ford continued to attract precise shots to the head and body of his opponent. Mattice was doing a lot of discussions, but he didn’t throw a lot of punches.
At the point halfway through Tour 2, Mattice finally landed two hands on the right, but Ford responded by connecting with a solid left shot. Mattice tried to be the attacker in the third round, when he moved forward.
Raymond Ford was not embarrassed by the assault of his opponent. Ford continued to get the blow, the right hook and net combination shots while fighting the back.
It was more or more the same in the 4th round that Ford continued to dictate the rhythm of the fight when he changed level with the blow and won a solid combination. In the last seconds of the fourth, Mattice connected to a good right hand, but Ford responded by winning the head and left to the body.
Mattice supported aggressively forward in the sixth, but again, he did not punch. When Mattice finally decided to punch, he picked up a solid body shot, but Ford responded by connecting with a three -stroke combination.
At the bottom of the section, Raymond Ford continued to show why there are levels above Thomas Mattice. At the end of the 10-round fight, Ford was declared a winner of the unanimous decision, while the three judges marked the competition (100-90) in favor of Ford.
Raymond “Savage” Ford (Savage “Ford (17-1-1, 8 KB), originally from New Jersey, is a former world featherweight champion who has all current belt belt holders on his radar. Ford made a final statement on Saturday evening by blocking Mattice.
