Cole Palmer retaliated to his criticisms on social networks and admitted “Sh * t” after having finished his long-lasting drought in the 3-1 victory of Chelsea on Liverpool this afternoon.
It was Palmer’s first goal in 19 games and was richly deserved after a brilliant display that turned out to be too much for Liverpool to be too much to manage.
The English international had already played a key role in the first two goals of Chelsea before obtaining his name on the match sheet for the first time since mid-January with a penalty of time.
Virgil Van Dijk scored Liverpool’s goal, but it was Palmer’s day while Chelsea was moving on points with Newcastle in the fight for a place in the Champions League.

Palmer – I felt normal
When he was asked how he felt standing above the kick, the former Manchester City playmaker told Sky Sports: “I just felt normal. Obviously, I went, I went for three months without scoring but it just gives me more fight and motivation to do more for me and for the team.
“Social media is nowadays full of idiots, trolls and whatever.
Palmer admitted that he had trouble managing his recent sterile fate.
He added: “Get chances and not score, I feel like I drop your team. I feel like I am mentally loud anyway. I’m proud to help the team and if I don’t do that, I’m not happy.”
No lack of motivation from Liverpool – Van Dijk
Liverpool was far from their best, but Captain Van Dijk insisted that he was not missing motivation despite the fact that they win the title last weekend.
The defender of the Netherlands said: “There was a chance for us to score – in the end they deserve victory. This is the disappointing thing when we came here to win.
“Obviously, we tried, but it was not great. The way we trained, the sharpness we had, everyone was ready for this.
“We knew it was going to be difficult sometimes. We could have done better in the way we defend ourselves as a team, but we will analyze it tomorrow and we will prepare for the next match.”
He added: “We are very lucky that we have not lost as many games in the League and that hurts. And that should hurt.
“Even when the work is over, we came here to try to get a good result. It must hurt. I’m really disappointed.”
