As people of the earth say: okay, goodbye, I love you. This article contains spoilers For “Elio”.
Pixar has been making movies since about the time I was born, so it’s a little Cidable to engage with the debates on the question of whether the studio has become a long time in the tooth and now has difficulties in relevance in its old age. Of course, the so-called golden era of the late 90s in mid-2010 could move away more and more in the mirror. But many of its pandemic era films have compiled solid criticism, are considered to be box office tubes and fill an important niche in children that very few competitors seem interested to do. “Elio”, which I reviewed in a fairly positive way for / film here, will probably not be as a major Turnout Point ™ in all respects. It is a fun, cute and emotionally engaging adventure that calls on all Nerds and foreigners among us – which is really necessary, honestly.
But how about what comes next? “Elio” does not do necessarily Let the basics of a suite, although you can easily imagine how it could happen. Elio (expressed by Yonas Kibreab) ends the film by making a heartbreaking but remarkably ripe decision: although it is finally welcomed with open arms in the Communiverse, a cosmic gathering of all the greatest minds and leaders of the Galaxy, Elio chooses to return home with his Tia Olga (Zoe Saldaña). This does not only imply putting aside his dreams of acceptance with starred eyes among the extraterrestrials he has been looking for for so long, but it also means that he will no longer see his new best friend, the extraterrestrial of Tardigrade Glordon (Remy Edgerly). Like his clear inspiration “and the extraterrestrial”, “the ingredients are there for a water show unlike everything we have experienced from” up “or” inside out “… but it is not quite the conclusion of history.
Those who remain for the end credits are also for a welcome surprise – the one who offers a nice emotional button to a friendship will have become extremely invested.
Elio’s mid-creed scene brings the film in a complete circle
Pixar films have never moved away from all the emotions we live in life, and “Elio” is no exception. The film begins on an incredibly melancholy note, highlighting the abject solitude of his title of title when he calmly cries the recent loss of his two parents. Tia Olga does her best to take care of her exuberant nephew, but she is also human. When Elio surprises her frustration in the ventilation of a friend and decides that she no longer wants to take care of him, he targets in space and gets his way to have extraterrestrials removed. Despite certain hilarious political negotiations with the formidable Lord Grigon (Brad Garrett) who was badly badly, Elio finally helps to save the day with GLODON. But even this is not enough to avoid the fork on the road that Elio conveniently ignored during most of the film.
When Elio decides to go back to earth rather than stay in the common, everyone understands where he comes from and why he chooses to do it … Even a tearful glome, who realizes that it is perhaps the last that he sees of his best friend. It is a daringly sweet-bitter end to what turns out to be an emotionally complex film. But rather than bringing things together Also A large part of a Downer, the average credits scene helps to soften a little. We return to Elio on Earth with another new friend named Bryce (Young Dylan) while building a kind of communication equipment on the beach – the same where Elio was chased by intimidators and kidnapped in the first place. As he fiddles with his long -range radio, we suddenly hear a very familiar voice crossing static: Glord. Even when separated by countless light years, the two friends will not be completely alone. For a film on connection and belonging, well, it is a perfectly succinct way to put an arc on things and to bring back “Elio” again.
Elio also has a final credits tag configuring the next original Pixar
But wait, there is even more! “Elio” holds another surprise in her round for the end of the tail of the credits, rewarding anyone who remained despite no promise of any kind of marvel style teasing. In an unexpected decision, however, the studio could not see fit to include an increasingly cute configuration for the next original Pixar to come: “Hoppers”. What makes this label of final credits so unusual is that it has absolutely nothing to do with the film that we have just watched. While the credits end on “Elio”, we suddenly hear a computerized voice repeat the same word and again – “Lizard. Lizard. Lizard.” It quickly becomes clear that it is the result of a real lizard by constantly pressing the pimples on a phone, entering an emoji lizard without any intention to stop. It lasts a little longer without further explanation, until the title card of “hoppers” appears and everything (in a way) clicks in place.
For those who have read / film (and it should all be, of course), you will be better prepared than most to understand what is going on here. As explained in our recent description of the sequences of “Toy Story 5”, “Hoppers” is the next original film of the studio, focusing on a young ecologist named Mabel (expressed by Piper Curda) who desperately tries to save a glade near to become destroyed to make room for a highway. In order to warn animals of their danger, she uses advanced technologies to go under cover as a Beaver and live among them. In order to communicate with disguised humans, however, the film offers a small fun bypass solution: the text-vocation function on mobile phones. This is exactly what we see the green lizard at the end of “Elio” to do and I suppose it is as good as any way to get this film on everyone’s radar.
“Hoppers” will arrive on the big screen on March 6, 2026, but “Elio” now plays in theaters around the world.
